Powerhouse vocalist and frontman Chris Cornell died on May 17 of an apparent suicide. The shocking news came just hours after a rocking performance in Detroit’s Fox Theatre.

Cornell was one of the frontrunners in the 90’s grunge scene and catapulted to fame with favorites like “Outshined,” “Black Hole Sun,” and “Spoonman” just to name a few. He brought in the next decade fronting Audioslave as he jumped at the opportunity to work with guitarist Tom Morello. After 3 albums together the band officially disbanded in 2007 citing “irresolvable issues.”

Chris Cornell has been open about his addictions and battle with depression, but in recent days displayed the likes of a content artist, husband and father. As we have seen to many times to count, depression will latch itself in the deepest valleys of your soul and kidnap any happiness that may surface. It strikes unexpectedly and without prejudice. We can only guess this is the explanation for his decision. He was found hanging in his hotel room after his wife made a call to a family friend to check on him. A great loss for his fans. A greater loss for his family. He is survived by his wife Vicky, and his 3 children Lillian, Toni, and Christopher.

The entire StageShottz team feels the impact of this loss and understand the void which now exists in the music. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his bands, and just like us, his fans.
