American indie singer/songwriter finished up a short tour run in Nashville, TN on March 6 at the Basement in Nashville, TN in support for his latest album Tender Souls. The Basement is a nice cozy venue in the basement of Grimey’s New and Preloved Music.
The got off to a rough start as Pete’s drummer has a bursted appendix and had to have emergency surgery. A quick call to a friend in Knoxville, TN resulted in a very nice replacement so the tour could continue. As the excitement and anticipation filled the small venue, the band consisting of Pete RG on load vocals and guitar, Brina Kabler on vocals and keyboard, Adam Kury with the bass, and Kevin Haaland on lead guitar, hit the stage ready to rock. Pete RG played hits such as “Our Escape”, “Reload”, “Heaven Knows”, and the title track from their newly released album among other songs.
Pete pulls from his Greek ancestry with a strong deep voice that is the backbone of the music. Add in a very melodic mix of keys and guitar backed by thumping bass and drums and you get a very physical sound permutating the air. Close your eye and you feel like you are on the journey with them. This was one of the best musical performances that I have witnessed this year. I would best most have not heard of Pete RG yet but rest assured you will soon.
I had only heard of Pete RG recently and was excited to see the band and was completely blown away by the performance. Pete RG will be back on a longer tour in June to cover the entire east coast. Make sure you cat a show and buy Pete a beer. For more information on Pete RG go to www.pete-rg.com or ww.facebook.com/PeteRGmusic.
