Legendary Timothy B. Schmit of the Eagles ended the Americana Music Festival and Conference in Nashville with a sold out show at the City Winery Sunday night, September 25. Schmit, who is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of fame and a member and part of Rock and Roll royalty with the Eagles, has put together a very successful solo career. Schmit just released his latest album, “Leap of Faith” two days before he took the stage at the City Winery.
Schmit played several songs off of his new album including his first song of the night “My Hat” and the album’s first single “Red Dirrt Road”. He reached into his deep catalog for songs during the show. The energetic “Whit Boy from Sacramento” off of his Expando album was a crowd pleaser. Schmit dedicated a beautiful rendition of “Peaceful East Feeling” to his former bandmate Glenn Fry who passed away earlier this year. That brought his first standing ovation of the night. Schmit also sang his mega Eagles hit “I Can’t Tell You Why” and “Love Will Keep Us Alive” from the Eagles Hell Freezes Over album.
As good an instrumentalist that Schmit is, this show and his new album highlights his amazing beautiful vocal prowess that has not diminished over the years. Timothy B. Schmit puts on a great show and I for one will catch his show anytime we is performing in a town near me. If you like music with a good mix of rock, country, and Americana, then this is the album of the year for you.
