The CMA Music Festival is a way for the artists to say thank you to the fans that support them and also let the fans say thank you to the artists. It is also a showcase for new artists so the fans can see them and hear their music. There are new artist that are on the stages associated with the CMA Festival and there are also artists in every bar up and down Broadway playing for the fans that stop in and get a beer or food. There are hundreds of musicians playing downtown Nashville during the CMA Festival and everyone one of them wanting to be heard. As Day 2 started in the heat the bars in Downtown Nashville opened as a refuge for the hot fans walking between main stages.
Some of the CMA stages that promoted young artists was the Gildan Broadway Stage at Hard Rock Café. They showcases such artists as Lucy Angel, Levon, Haley Georgia, Walter McGuire and Sammy Arriaga, among a few others. The Music City Stage had Jilllian Jacqueline, Dianna Corcoran, Jordyn Mallory, and Rachele Lynae giving everyone a taste of their music. The Chevrolet Cruze Park Stage had more well-known artists that also love to entertain their fans. That stage closed with former American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina. Before her was guitar virtuoso Lindsey Ell, Raelynn, Lucie Silvas, Ty Herndon, Chris Carmack from the TV show Nashville, and the amazing Jason Michael Carroll.
Sara Evans and The Oak Ridge Boys both had sets at the AT&T Skyview Stage at the Ascend Amphitheater. The river was full of boats with fans sunning and playing the water while listening to the Chevrolet Riverfront Stage. Along with all of the people in front of the stage, they got to enjoy a nice selection of country music including Brandy Clark, Eric Paslay, new comer Kane Brown, former Staind frontman Aaron Lewis, Thompson Square, Charles Esten also from the show Nashville, Tracy Lawrence, and Neal McCoy. The married duo Thompson Square welcomed a new baby onto the world this past January and while Esten was on stage with a couple of his castmates, it was announced that CMT would be renewing the recently cancelled Nashville TV show.
Inside the nice air conditioned Fan Fair X, Esten was Artists of the day on the CMA Close Up Stage. Lorrie Morgan and Jeannie Seely came to the stage later in the day for a little girl talk. Across the building at the Durango stage the fans got to enjoy Marty Haggard, The Bellamy Brothers, Confederate Railroad, T. Graham Brown, and Ronnie McDowell to name a few.
Across the river at the Nissan Stadium Frankie Ballard sang the National Anthem while adding to the excitement of “The Night That Country Rocks” with performances was Clint Black, Chris Stapleton, Sam Hunt, Eric Church, Hank Williams, Jr., and Carrie Underwood.
Two days down with the anticipation of the weekend ahead sent many a fan hoping for a hangover remedy when the wake up in the morning and the anticipation of more great music.
