I’ve said it before…I don’t listen to a lot of Bluegrass music, but when I hear a group like the Roys; I have to tell you, they will make you listen. I totally enjoyed this album, which is their second offering, and I may have to change my listening preferences! The album is full of great, down home music, fabulous musicians (including Ricky Skaggs and the Whites) and is well produced (the Roy’s with Andy Leftwich) and recorded.

From the first track, “Coal Minin’ Man” (the first radio single from the album), which is a great tribute to the mining occupation and treats it with the respect it deserves, the album features wonderful family harmonies, and great solo performances from Lee and Elaine. They prove, without a doubt, that their traditional brand of Bluegrass music is well suited in today’s market.

I really enjoyed “That’s What Makes It Love”. I especially liked the slick dobro playing in it. Great guitar pickin’ on “My, Oh My How Time Flies”. ”I Wonder What God’s Thinking” is a tear jerker and is really well written and will make you think… Great harmonies. Another of my favorites! Elaine really shines on “Trailblazer”.

The album is really tight and I think if you are a Bluegrass fan, you will really like it and if you aren’t, you may get converted. I wish them much success with this project. They deserve much praise for their efforts. I have my copy, now go get yours.

Overall rating ….A
